I absolutely love what I do – the thrill of finding that perfect venue, the day-to-day contact with guests, many of whom have now become friends, and most of all, the satisfaction of a happy group keen to return for the next holiday. However it all started rather differently…

Four years after qualifying as a veterinary surgeon from Liverpool University and working at various vet practices in England gave me itchy feet and I had always dreamed of doing a ski season. I took the plunge in 1999 and headed to Serre Chevalier in the French Alps, working as a resort manager for the renowned holiday Tour Operator, Inghams.

One season turned into seven years working for Inghams, whilst continuing to locum as a vet in the UK and France. Marrying Philippe, a French ski/cycling instructor and having two children during this time meant that Briancon, Serre Chevalier was to become my permanent home. This was no hardship however as this is simply a fantastic place to live if you love the mountains and all that they have to offer…skiing, hill-walking, cycling… plus our region, Hautes-Alpes, is the sunniest place in France – 300 days of sunshine a year!

Working for Inghams gave me invaluable experience in the travel industry and in 2007, I co-founded a Bridge holiday company, StockenBridge Breaks to provide very special luxury Bridge holidays throughout Europe and in Morocco. This company has gone from strength to strength, mainly through word of mouth, and with 75% of guests returning, some many, many times, we know that we are on the right track.

With my husband, Philippe, we have now started up a second holiday company, Frost Travel, to organise cycling holidays (road, mountain and e-bike) using all the expertise, experience and contacts gained over the last 20 years. Working with top guides and instructors, choosing good hotels, always with excellent food, and planning every detail meticulously has always been key to a wonderful and unforgettable holiday experience. Putting together a holiday takes an enormous amount of time and effort and is very personal to me. I always ask myself ‘what would I like to do on a holiday?’ and ‘would I like to stay in this hotel?’. We always visit the hotel in person to meet the staff, taste the food and check the details for ourselves.

Our aim with Frost Travel is to start with our home region, Serre Chevalier, and to expand the portfolio of holidays gradually to include different locations, with each holiday having been researched thoroughly to give you the best experience possible and a very happy holiday – who can argue with that?

I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.ā€™
